In my experience, Volumes 1-4 are the most widely available sets on sites like eBay, Facebook, and other second-hand sites. These volumes also have zero duplicate models across the four volumes. That is, buying volumes 1-4 gets enthusiasts 60 unique plane designs. As described in my Whitewings Guide, starting with “History of Jet Fighters” (Volume 5), a few of the plane designs in the first four volumes are included in many of the other volumes.

This bundle contains classic, interesting, historically significant, high-performing, and (in Future of Flight, at least) wild designs. This is a great way to dive in and jump start your collecting, building, and flying fun!
